How PlanPulse works
From a sentence to a notification on your phone, step by step.
1. Write a task
Type a sentence in the box, or open the full form. Example: “Call supplier every Monday at 5 pm”.
2. Check the preview
PlanPulse shows the title, time, repeat and priority. Anything unclear is flagged for you to fix.
3. The server schedules it
Your task is saved in a database and reminder rows are created for each reminder time.
4. A timer sends it
Every minute the server finds reminders that are due and sends them, with retries if a send fails.
5. You tap Done
Finish the task from the notification or the app. Repeating tasks move to the next date.
What happens behind the scenes
- Database: tasks, history and reminders are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with per-account privacy rules.
- Timer: a scheduled job calls a server function every minute.
- Duplicate protection: each reminder is unique, and two timer runs cannot take the same one.
- Retries: a failed send is retried after 1, 5, 15 and 60 minutes, up to 5 tries, and then shown as failed.
- Status you can trust: the app separates “scheduled”, “accepted by the push service” and “failed”. It never claims a message was delivered unless a service confirms it.
What can still go wrong
- A phone with no internet receives the notification later, or not at all.
- Strict battery-saver settings on some phones delay notifications.
- Free hosting plans have limits that can change.
